Service sector hiring falls further in UK

The UK’s service sector saw hiring intentions continue to decline in April, according to the latest service sector employment index from Markit/Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
Data obtained by Recruiter reveals the index posted its lowest reading this year of 56.5 in April, down from 56.8 in March and February’s 2015 peak of 57.3. Any reading over 50 indicates growth
However, the reading for the Business Activity Index for the UK services sector rose for the second month running in April to 59.5, from 58.9, indicating the fastest rate of service sector expansion since August 2014. 
Across the continent, Italy saw its service sector Business Activity Index post a reading of 53.1 in April, up from 51.6 in March, while in Spain growth was even more pronounced with its Index posting a reading of 60.3 in the month, up from 57.3 in March.
However, both France and Germany saw services sector business activity fall away in the month with Germany’s Index posting a reading of 54, down from 55.4 and France’s delivering a reading of 51.4 from 52.4 in March.
