Recruitment industry recovery boosts Kellan Group’s profits

A “significant recovery” in the recruitment industry has helped multi-sector recruiter Kellan Group achieve a full-year net fee income (NFI) increase of 4.3% to £8m.
A financial statement released this morning (24 April) showed the second half of the year ending 31 December, 2014 to be more profitable for the group, with revenue increasing to £12.3m from the £10.7m generated in H1.
In a statement, the group’s new executive chairman Richard Ward attributed the positive financials to the “significant recovery” and taking advantage of the “improving market”.
He continued to say the group’s operations are focused on its core markets of hospitality & leisure, technology and accounting & finance. Alongside “certain other niche areas” they give the group enough diversity to “de-risk the overall impact of an inconsistent market”.
“The consolidation of offices into multi sector operations has benefited the business in effective management and control,” he added.
The group’s Berkeley Scott operations, which recruits into the hospitality sector and is the biggest revenue generating division, saw 2014 revenue increase 13.2% to £15.8m, which represents a 13.2% increase, while NFI grew 10.5% to £4.9m.
