1,000s of jobs at Biggin Hill

Biggin Hill Airport in South-East London has announced ambitious plans for expansion and the creation of thousands of new jobs, the Sevenoaks Chronicle reports.

Plans that will create 2,300 jobs by 2030 involve: building more hangars and offices; developing a training college; building a hotel for flight crews, engineers and the public; and extending airport opening hours to 11pm.

The publication quoted airport managing director Will Curtis as saying the airport was “currently very underused”.

The airport already has 65 businesses on site, supporting more than 1,000 jobs ranging from aircraft technicians to administrators.

It is hoped the longer hours would encourage more aircraft owners and businesses to make Biggin Hill their base, therefore creating more jobs. - See more at:
