New recruits into police forces across England and Wales could require a degree in future, under proposals from the College of Policing.
The BBC reports while there is currently no service-wide minimum qualification for new police officers, the college says the role of a police officer is now of "degree-level complexity".
The report adds the college is consulting on the plans, which if approved could run as a pilot in 2017 and be fully adopted by 2019.
Recruiter contacted the College of Policing for comment but had not heard back by deadline.
