Burberry factory in Leeds to provide more than 1k jobs

British luxury brand Burberry has announced plans to invest at least £50m in a new manufacturing factory in Leeds that would provide permanent employment for more than a thousand people.
A Burberry spokesman told Recruiter its approximately 770 workers, currently situated over two sites in Yorkshire, would move to the new facility by 2019 and as production increases, about 200 additional staff would be recruited.
The new site will allow for increased production of the brand’s iconic trench coat and the potential to manufacture other products.
Along with the new factory, Burberry is creating a bespoke apprenticeship programme focusing on textile manufacturing skills. The company spokesman said programme details were still being worked through.
