Robots have the right skills for several jobs

It is likely that jobseekers could find themselves competing against robots for a number of jobs, which experts say are ripe for automation.

Proofreaders, motion picture projectionists, typists and banks tellers should be the most worried. These jobs are among 15 positions that research conducted by the Pew Research Centre, based in Washington, identified as having the highest routine task intensity, which basically means that because of their repetitive nature, they can be carried out by robots.

Thankfully the list didn’t include recruitment consultants or resourcers.

And athletes, sport instructors, primary school teachers and actors were among the least likely jobs to be overtaken by robots.

Shame – we think it would be quite interesting to see Robocop line up against Usain ‘lightning’ Bolt one day. Oh well…
