How SMEs can tackle youth unemployment

One of the biggest issues contributing to the levels of unemployment amongst young people is the lack of options available to students after leaving compulsory education.
Excitement, pride and a sense of accomplishment should all be emotions felt by secondary school students after finishing their final exams. However, with one fifth of the nation’s young people unable to secure jobs after leaving school, many aren’t able to celebrate this milestone event.
An increasing number of students are finding themselves unemployed and with limited options after finishing secondary school. Recent reports by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that 817,000 of the nation’s 16-24 year-olds are currently out of work and although research shows that the situation is starting to improve, the last two years have seen the worst levels of youth unemployment in a decade.
