UK GRADUATE recruitment has surged to a record high, topping a peak not seen since the financial crisis hit six years ago, according to market research group High Fliers.
The research focussed on the UK’s 100 biggest graduate employers, including ExxonMobil, BP, Shell, GlaxoSmithKline and Unilever. It found that vacancies for newly-graduated students had climbed by almost 12% compared to 2013, with engineering and industrial companies helping lead the way to a new record.
“It’s great news for the ‘class of 2014’ leaving university this summer that Britain’s top employers have stepped up their graduate recruitment so significantly this year,” says High Fliers managing director Martin Birchall.
“Our latest research confirms that the number of opportunities for university-leavers at the country’s most sought-after employers is now at its highest level for seven years and matches the pre-recession peak in graduate recruitment recorded in 2007.”
